Mesachie lake is well worth a visit. Years ago it was known as the lakeof spirits. Mesachie man lived here (so they say) he would drown in thelake anyone who trespassed on his property.
Relax for a couple of hours at the mini golf course on Bear Lake road; don't blink (when drivingthrough the village) otherwise you will pass it. If you have a boat, you can access the lake at the bottom of Bear Lake road (just past themini golf course)

View from boat ramp on Bear lake road.
Note: The main Cowichan lake is accessible from Bear Lake road, and the immediate waters (closest to Mesachie) are perhaps the most beautiful part of the lake. This is (as well) an excellent refuge if the wind blows up unexpectedly, as it so frequently does in the late afternoon.
