Honeymoon Bay was founded in 1929, when a small logging company named McDonald Murphystarted to log the forest just outside of Honeymoon Bay. They built arail road system that extended up to the Gordon River and established acamp at that location. Timber was loaded into railway cars andtransported by steam engine to a log dump area in Honeymoon Bay.

The homes on the original town site were built in 1947 by Western Forest Industries and rented out to mill workers. In 1981 the mill closed down and the village was in danger of becoming a ghost town. Not the kind of folk to give up, Honeymoon Bay residents fought back and transformed this town into the top class tourist resort destination that it is today.
The Honeymoon Bay area offers excellent views of Bald Mountain and Gordon Bay Provincial park. The park is located off South Shore Road about 2.5 km west of Honeymoon Bay village (on the right side of the road) Whether you are rambling through the wild flower reserve, golfing at March Meadows, or simply enjoying the gorgeous beaches, you will be sure to enjoy your stay at Honeymoon Bay.
